After-Education: Anna Freud, Melanie Klein, and Psychoanalytic Histories of Learning
Britzman (education, York U.) considers the relevance of controversies in the field of child psychoanalysis to the large field of education. Examining the sometimes-conflicting psychoanalytic theories of Anna Freud and Melanie Klein, she shows how each contributes in different ways to an understanding of education. Some of the themes addressed include pedagogy, group psychology, the theoretical nature of learning, and the ontological capacity of humans to transform themselves and others through an original susceptibility to knowledge.
