Community-Based Nursing Practice

Community-Based Nursing Practice

This collection of chapters is designed to prepare nurses for the variety of settings and situations their field now requires them to face. The central theme of community-based practice is applied in chapters on a senior center, an HIV/AIDS network, home-care settings, a faith community, among the chronically ill, on a college campus, among others. Each chapter is written by a professor of nursing, supplemented by the personal stories of their students working in the facility featured. Additional chapters discuss community resources, ethical and legal considerations, health promotion, cultural competence, and Canadian practice. Sorrell and Redmond both teach at George Mason U. in Fairfax, Virginia. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
