The organization of the book closely parallels the layout of disorders in the DSM-IV- TR, but the amount of space allocated to each disorder in this book varies according to its clinical importance. Early chapters cover general concepts of diagnosis, etiology, and treatment, and later chapters look at a number of childhood disorders, before delving into adult disorders. Separate chapters are devoted to specific substance- related disorders, and there are also chapters on psychological factors affecting medical conditions and movement disorders induced by psychiatric medication.
