In addition to editing this volume, Behrbohm (Academic Teaching Hospital, Humboldt U., Berlin, Germany) and Tardy (U. of Illinois Medical Center, Chicago) contributed chapters on the dual character of nasal surgery, principles and philosophy of contemporary rhinoplasty, preoperative management, the functional tension nose, the overprojected nose, the saddle nose, and alar reduction and sculpture (which Tardy co-authored with Regan Thomas, also of the U. of Illinois). The volume, which is oversize (9.25x12") and heavily illustrated with excellent color drawings and photos, is purposely focused on both functional and aesthetic motives behind nose surgery. Additional subjects include facial proportions and esthetic ideals, principles of modern septoplasty, open structure rhinoplasty, endonasal tip approaches and techniques, nasal trauma, and postoperative care and management. Like the editors, the other 15 contributors are specialists in the US and Germany. Annotation ©2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
