The 19 chapters in this undergraduate textbook examine the health care needs of the entire family within the scope of the nursing practice. Unit I can be used early in a nursing program, and presents theoretical material on family structure, sociocultural influences on family health, and assessment and intervention. Unit II is suitable for a later specialty course, with chapters describing practice in areas such as childbearing, gerontology, medical/surgical, and mental health. The third edition adds chapters on chronic illness and international family nursing. Annotation ©2005 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
