Twenty-four American nursing practitioners and educators contribute 17 chapters on the geriatric nursing protocols developed as part of the NICHE (Nurses Improving Care for Health System Elders) Project undertaken by the John A. Hartford Foundation of New York City. All chapters from the first edition have been updated based on the most recent research, and two new chapters added on the process of evaluating the quality of practice guidelines, and assessing the impact of introducing best practice protocols on quality by measuring performance.
