This reference provides an overview of early childhood education research conducted in the US and around the world in the last decade. Each of 32 contributions from international scholars summarizes what current research says about a particular issue. Sample topics include the development of a moral sense in children, early childhood multicultural education, preschool teachers' professional development, and feminist issues in early childhood scholarship. Although some of the same subject areas are covered as in the first edition, the second edition contains all new material. Spodek is professor emeritus at the U. of Illinois, and Saracho teaches at the U. of Maryland. Annotation ©2006 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
