This is the new edition of a textbook on the research, theory, practice, and policy for family health promotion in the field of nursing. After presenting the concept of family nursing and health promotion, Bomar (School of Nursing, U. of North Carolina at Wilmington) presents chapters describing the theoretical frameworks related to such topics as family roles, family communication, family spirituality, and other sociocultural influences on health. Chapters then turn to nursing practice, with chapters on assessment and intervention, environmental health, family health promotion during transitions, and health promotion in rural settings. Final chapters discuss policy issues. Annotation ©2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
