Updated with current terminology and classification of mental disorders based on "The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders," Fourth Edition DSM-IV, American Psychiatric Association, 1994, this resource provides guidelines for DSM-IV diagnosis of the major mental health disorders. For each diagnosis, an Adlerian based Individual Psychology treatment plan is then offered and an illustartive case study presented. Each contributing author is a practitioner of Individaul Psychology and therefore addresses a given disorder in terms of Adlerian theory: feelings of inferiority; striving for superiority; defense mechanisms generated in response to external threats; attitudes towards life; and behavioural goals generated - attention, power, revenge and inadequacy.
