Elizabeth C. Pomeroy, PhD LMSW-ACP, received her master's degree in social work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has over 18 years of clinical social work experience with children, adolescents, adults, and families in mental health and health settings. She received her PhD in social work from the University of Texas at Austin. She received the University's Outstanding Dissertation Award in social sciences for her research on families of people with HIV/AIDS. . For the past 8 years, she has taught clinical assessment and diagnosis at the University of Central Florida and the University of Texas at Austin. Her research interests have focused on the effectiveness of mental health interventions for children, adults and families and intervention for individuals infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. She is currently an associate professor and the director of the Bachelor of Social Work program at the University of Texas at Austin. Kathryn G. Wambach, Ph. D. , A. C. S. W. , received her Master's degree in Social Work from Florida State University in 1980. She worked in publicly funded mental health and substance abuse treatment facilities for approximately 20 years focusing primarily on crisis and emergency services. She received her Ph. D. in Social Work in 1992 from Florida State University. After that time, she was on faculty at the University of Texas at Austin teaching primarily in the clinical concentration. She was the former Director of the BSW Program. Her research interests were focused on the effectiveness of mental health and substance abuse interventions with high-risk populations including juvenile offenders and persons with serious andpersistent mental illnesses.
