About the Editors:
Among the most well-respected medical doctors in Europe, Dr. Köpf-Maier studied medicine in Würzburg and Berlin and was conferred a Doctorate of Medicine in 1978. Formerly Professor of Anatomy at the University of Ulm, she is currently Professor of Anatomy at the Freie Universität Berlin. Dr. Köpf-Maier’s emphasis on the study of macroscopic anatomy for medical students made her the ideal editor to lead the team of experts assembled to create the current edition of the two-volume Wolf-Heidegger’s Atlas of Human Anatomy, on which this single-volume edition is based.
Dr. John C. Weber, consulting editor for The Color Atlas of Human Anatomy, taught anatomy and cell biology at Cornell University Medical College from 1966 until his retirement in 2000. He received his DDS from Columbia University in 1965 and his diploma from Columbia’s School of International Affairs the following year. Dr. Weber has served as Acting Chairman of the Anatomy Department and Associate Dean at Cornell University Medical College, Associate Director of The New York Hospital, and was a visiting scholar at Cambridge University in England as well as visiting professor of Anatomy at Shanghai Medical University.
Nomenclature for the atlas was prepared according to the Terminolgia Anatomica in consultation with Dr. Arthur W. English. Dr. English is Professor of Anatomy and Cell Biology at Emory University in Atlanta, where his research focuses on the interaction of the nervous system with the musculoskeletal system.
