Based on his clinical experience, Wolfe (president and CEO, Center for Training in Psychotherapy Integration) has come to the conclusion that the mainstream view of anxiety disorders is limited in its conceptualization of the disorders, the etiological models that have been proposed, the questions that have been researched and the methodologies proposed for research. He seeks to address these shortcomings by integrating psychoanalytic, cognitive-behavioral, experiential, and biomedical perspectives into etiology and treatment models that rests on the concept of "self-wounds," which is defined generally as difficulties and dysfunctions in the experiencing of the person's self or identity.
