New to the third edition are revised and new sections on topics that include cell microenvironment; immunity and inflammation; effects of stress and pro-and anti-inflammation processes on cellular and humoral immunity; biology of cancer; tumor invasion and metastasis; obesity; thyroid hormone; alterations in pulmonary function, the urinary tract, reproductive function, digestive function, and integument; and musculoskeletal alterations in children. The chapters are organized into two main parts; basic concepts of pathophysiology--with chapters topics that include the cell, genes and genetic diseases, altered cellular and tissue biology, immunity, inflammation, biology of cancer, and cancer in children--and body systems and diseases.
